Your division shapes your entire prep — how you train, diet, and pose. Choosing well means picking the look you actually want to build and the one your structure suits. Here’s the honest breakdown of the four divisions we coach.

Bikini

The most popular women’s division. Judges reward round, developed glutes and hamstrings, a small waist, balanced shoulders, and a lean-but-healthy look with a confident walk. It’s athletic and feminine — not shredded. Bikini prep coaching →

Figure

More muscle than bikini, built on the “X-frame”: capped delts, a wide back, a tight waist, and toned legs shown in quarter turns. Ideal for women who love lifting heavy and want visible muscle shape. Figure prep coaching →

Men’s Physique

The most popular men’s division. It rewards a wide, tapered upper body with lean conditioning, presented in board shorts with a T-walk. Accessible and beginner-friendly. Men’s physique coaching →

Fit Model

A marketable, athletic, lifestyle look — lean and toned without extreme conditioning, with strong runway presentation. Best known in the WBFF. Fit model coaching →

Not sure yet?

Your structure gives clues — longer limbs and a smaller frame often suit bikini or men’s physique; more muscle and width suit figure. But your goals matter just as much. A coach can look at your photos and recommend the best fit.

Key Takeaways
  • Bikini — shape, glutes, and presentation over size.
  • Figure — the X-frame with real muscle.
  • Men’s physique — V-taper in board shorts.
  • Fit model — marketable, athletic, runway-ready.

Common Questions

Division FAQ

Can I switch divisions later?
Yes. Many athletes start in one division and move to another as their physique develops — for example, bikini to figure, or men’s physique to classic. Your first division isn’t permanent; it’s the best fit for where you are now.
Which division is easiest for a beginner?
Bikini and men’s physique are the most popular and accessible entry points, and most shows offer novice classes for first-timers. “Easiest” really means the division whose look and demands fit you best.
Does my height or body type limit my division?
Not really — every division runs multiple height classes so you compete against similar builds. Your structure influences which division you’ll be most competitive in, which is exactly what a coach helps you assess.
